Before launching Shimmer, I spent years marketing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and emerging technologies across Sydney and Spain. This corporate work required immense structure, precision, and a constant focus on data testing.
In fact, managing large-scale campaigns for global corporations taught me how to solve complex operational problems. While I enjoyed navigating boardroom strategies, I quietly built a desire to create a meaningful business of my own. Having grown up around family-owned transport businesses in Parramatta, a deep sense of ownership and long-term responsibility shaped my professional outlook.
When Jorge and I started Shimmer, our very different professional backgrounds complemented each other perfectly. Jorge brought a wealth of practical experience from his specialised glazing career in Europe. For instance, he worked directly on the complex glass installation project for the Barcelona airport control tower in 2003. In that high-stakes environment, technical precision remains completely mandatory and attention to detail means everything.
To that end, I combined his technical glazing expertise with my corporate business management background. As a result, we built our entire operational model around sustainable growth and structured delivery methods.
From our very first day, we insisted that every piece of glass must remain completely immaculate and streak-free. This strict value became the foundation for our entire technician training programme and our client relationships. Over the years, the scale and complexity of our facility maintenance work increased significantly.
Today, we operate in high-pressure environments where consistency remains critical. In addition, our specialised teams deliver premium services across major commercial sites, schools, and corporate facilities. The Shimmer ecosystem now provides a complete range of external care, including building washing, pressure cleaning, and high-access glass maintenance.
Above all, we build long-term trust by quietly removing operational friction for busy facility managers. Seventeen years on, our scale looks very different, but our core belief in delivering immaculate results remains completely unchanged.
